Jumbo Stay

Sleeping in a jumbo jet may not be your idea of fun – squashed into small seats and being woken up by screaming children – however when you have your own room and are parked on the ground in one of Europe’s coolest cities you might not find it so bad.

Hotel Arlanda, also known as Jumbo Stay in Stockholm allows you to spend the night in a range of rooms, from budget dormitories to private en suites, of which there are only 27 in total. The pièce de résistance however, is the luxury suite located in the captain’s cockpit with panoramic views looking out towards the city.

The jumbo jet itself was built in 1976 and was operated by Transjet (a former Swedish airline), Singapore Airlines and Pan Am during its time. Later the plane was converted into this unique hotel, which opened in 2008 and is first of its kind in the world.

Aviation enthusiasts and kids will finally be able to do what they’re normally not allowed to – freely look around the aircraft touching all the buttons and finding out how it all works along the way.
This is truly an airport hotel with a difference.
